Wella Trend Vision Finalists Announced

Wella toured the nation announcing finalist positions for the coveted Wella Trend Vision competition this week and three Rokk Ebony cats are in the running to represent Australia in Paris.

Well Trend Vision invites hairdressers to apply their creative talent to one of four themes: an internationally formulated series of ‘visions’ that annually collect and collaborate the finest hairdressers in the world, subsequently aligning them in the likes of Paris and Berlin to interpret their elected Wella Trend Vision in pursuit of the gold medal.

Affirmed attendees at the Wella Trend Vision finals to be held on September 6^th at the Byron Kennedy Hall at Sydney’s Fox Studios are: Marie Uva and her forever obliging assistant; Joey Scandizzo, Danielle Barca and Sanja Scher.

Marie wowed judges with soft blondes and shimmering pastels in representation of the Techno Poetry theme whilst Danielle Barca had it in the bag thanks to a worldly colour palette popping with neon notes as required by trend vision: Nomad Couture. The dramatic colour placement of indigo, cobalt and jet black orchestrated by Sanja Scher caught the attention of judges – a clear stand out within the Midnight Stage theme.

The national winner of Wella Trend Vision 2010 will be flown to Paris to re-create their look on one of the globes most esteemed competition platforms.

High Scores at the HBIA Championships

A versatile mix of hair stylists congregated recently in the manifestation of a 2010 Australian industry highlight brushed with another stellar performance from the Rokk Ebony crew.

The largest of its kind in Australia, the HBIA Australian Hairdressing Championships welcome a surge of creativity from all walks of hairdressing wisdom – making available fair playing ground for everyone from students and apprentices to the highly qualified and experienced professionals to compete and confirm national industry status. And it emerged that Rokk Ebony is leading the way in directional hair design with the best of them.

 These accolades have joined the forever growing Rokk Ebony trophy cabinet in salute to the unyielding support, education and creative direction provided by the company.

Finding F.A.M.E

Rokk Ebony Mentone’s Daniella Barca recently stepped up to take a lead part in the coveted F.A.M.E Team (Fellowship Academy of Merit and Excellence)- further illustrating a growing influence on the future of Australian hairdressing.

For eighteen years, the Fellowship F.A.M.E Team has provided a platform dedicated to educating and growing the industry’s most promising hands of youth to an international standard, welcoming young stylists from the country’s best salons to step up, hone their craft and network with the who’s who of global hairdressing.

Daniella was first required to submit a detailed outline of career achievements and a photographic collection showcasing strong technical ability and the capacity to engage an audience – ultimately underscoring potential to represent Australian hairdressing at home and abroad. Nominated as a finalist, Daniella was then interviewed by a panel of industry heavy-weights before executing a live, two-minute hair show at Hair Expo’s 2010 main stage.

Once occupied by the likes of Joey Scandizzo, a seat on Australia’s F.A.M.E  Team has typically marked the beginning of an illustrious industry career – brushed with global fashion weeks, editorial styling and the most sought after prize of all: Australian Hairdresser of the Year.

HBIA Heroes

The spotlight recently shone on two Rokk Ebony young guns at the annual Hair and Beauty Industry Association (HBIA) Student, Apprentice and Educator of the Year Awards.

The affluent HBIA ceremony  built to recognise students, apprentices and educators who excel in their chosen field of hairdressing and/or beauty  welcomes some of the hairdressing industry’s most promising hands of the future to compete for the ultimate title ‘HBIA Apprentice of the Year,’ and in 2010 awarded Rokk Ebony Mentone’s Daniella Barca the grand prize.

Far from an easy feat, candidates are interviewed and given the opportunity to illustrate how they have contributed to the industry including the ways in which they have excelled, and with accolade ‘Australian Hair Fashion Awards Apprentice of the Year finalist 2010’ to talk about, there’s little wonder Daniella took the gong.

In hot pursuit was Rokk Ebony South Yarra’s second year apprentice Caitlin Wilson who succeeded in establishing a HBIA Apprentice of the Year 2010 finalist position. 

The awards indicate a bright future for Rokk Ebony and Australian hairdressing at large – congratulations Daniella and Caitlin!

ROKK EBONY CLEANS UP AT THE 2010 AUSTRALIAN HAIR FASHION AWARDS

Rokk Ebony milestones were made last night at the Australian Hair Fashion Awards (AHFA) with the group welcoming three of the ceremony’s most prestigious trophies. Held in Sydney, the awards gala spun the spotlight on Aaron Chan before following Joey to the stage and saluting the company as a whole for artistic excellence in hair.

Aaron was applauded for his raw black and white men’s collection – the fourth year apprentice made history as one of the youngest to take home AHFA Men’s Hairdresser of the Year – before Joey welcomed respect as team leader of the Sebastian Urban Design Team; the group were awarded AHFA Artistic Team of the Year 2010 thanks to a string of imagery fusing avant-garde with meticulous grace. Rokk Ebony reaped recognition as one of the nations’ leading forces in business and art with AHFA trophy; Salon Group of the Year 2010.

Joey Scandizzo sat anxiously as the most important announcement of 2010 – to both this legendary stylist and the Australian hairdressing industry – drew nearer. Joey has worked tirelessly for over five years to earn the most sought after title in Australian hairdressing, pouring passion, funds, time and energy into beautiful collections that, until last night, have never quite made the cut. Ladies and gentlemen, the AHFA Australian Hairdresser of the Year 2010 trophy goes to Mr Joey Scandizzo. Congratulations to Joey for making history as the stylist who, despite the criticism of others, instinctively broke the rules of hair design whilst remaining true to his persona – subsequently etching his name into the industry’s archive as one of the youngest to earn the national title. Bravo.

Home to the stage where Australia’s list of best hairdressers is annually unveiled, Hair Expo notoriously catapults a select few to the highest point of competitive success and, with four finalist positions under their belt thanks to some of the finest imagery ever produced at the company’s whim, the general consensus is that Rokk Ebony are going to walk away from 2010s eminent gala a trophy or two richer.

Congratulations to the following Rokk Ebony stars- a crew you may be hearing and seeing a lot more of; finalist for Hair Expo Australian Hairdresser of the Year; Joey Scandizzo, Hair Expo Colour Technician of the Year finalist; Marie Uva, Hair Expo Salon Team of the Year finalist; Pina Mercuri, Joey Scandizzo and Marie Uva – the same trio are sitting pretty as Hair Expo Photographic Collection of the Year finalists.

Such success not only underscores each individual’s sublime aptitude with hair design, but subsequently illustrates the culture and mission of Rokk Ebony: to produce nothing but the pinnacle of prestige.
