Rokk Ebony looks to Paris as national winners of Wella Trend Vision 2010

Posted on September 9, 2010

Cross your fingers for a case of ‘third time lucky’ as Marie Uva and her trusty assistant, Joey Scandizzo look to the Wella Trend Vision International Finals as national winners of the prestigious colour competition yet again.

The pair will fly to Paris to compete against over 80 teams from 50 other countries on Friday 6th November – working together in the re-creation of their winning Techno Poetry inspired style with hope of bringing home gold for Australia.

Wella’s annual Trend Vision competition asks hairdressers from around the world to personalise one of their ‘visions,’ and 2010 put forth an inspiring mix to choose from.

Nomad Couture invited technicians to catch the travel bug with a worldly inspired palette popping with neon tones whilst Techno Poetry called the modern-day Alice forward to experiment with soft blondes and shimmering pastels in a theme bringing fantasy into reality. Nature’s Goddess asked colourists to orchestrate the cohesion of soft salmon and hot corals with aquamarine and luscious beige brown which was the perfect contrast to Midnight Stage; a category intriguing technicians to explore the shifting persona of colour through the dramatic placement of indigo, cobalt and jet black.

Marie and Joey indulged the Techno Poetry theme with Rokk Ebony-bred finesse and their own creative charisma in a result that embraced soft femininity with a blonde canvas, cool pastel colours and impressive tapering technique.

Rokk Ebony Mentone’s Daniella Barca stepped into the spotlight shortly after to accept the Wella Trend Vision Young Talent bronze award for 2010. Daniella and her assistant, Kalia Mollica combined a structured silhouette with earthy-notes of softness in a dramatic display of Nomad Couture.

Two more testaments to the inimitable culture of Rokk Ebony.

Rokk Ebony Mentone’s Daniella Barca recently stepped up to take a lead part in the coveted F.A.M.E Team (Fellowship Academy of Merit and Excellence)- further illustrating a growing influence on the future of Australian hairdressing.

For eighteen years, the Fellowship F.A.M.E Team has provided a platform dedicated to educating and growing the industry’s most promising hands of youth to an international standard, welcoming young stylists from the country’s best salons to step up, hone their craft and network with the who’s who of global hairdressing.

HBIA Apprentice of the Year 2010 – Daniella Barca

Posted on June 2, 2010

HBIA Heroes

The spotlight recently shone on two Rokk Ebony young guns at the annual Hair and Beauty Industry Association (HBIA) Student, Apprentice and Educator of the Year Awards.

The affluent HBIA ceremony  built to recognise students, apprentices and educators who excel in their chosen field of hairdressing and/or beauty  welcomes some of the hairdressing industry’s most promising hands of the future to compete for the ultimate title ‘HBIA Apprentice of the Year,’ and in 2010 awarded Rokk Ebony Mentone’s Daniella Barca the grand prize.

Far from an easy feat, candidates are interviewed and given the opportunity to illustrate how they have contributed to the industry including the ways in which they have excelled, and with accolade ‘Australian Hair Fashion Awards Apprentice of the Year finalist 2010’ to talk about, there’s little wonder Daniella took the gong.

In hot pursuit was Rokk Ebony South Yarra’s second year apprentice Caitlin Wilson who succeeded in establishing a HBIA Apprentice of the Year 2010 finalist position.

The awards indicate a bright future for Rokk Ebony and Australian hairdressing at large – congratulations Daniella and Caitlin!
