Friday 29 August was a highlight on the rokk ebony calendar with more than 400 guests being absolutely entranced by the Melbourne Spring Fashion Week opening night event: Collins Place x rokk ebony SS17.
All eyes were glued to the catwalk as rokk ebony and Rokk Man Barbers created stunning hair fashion looks accompanied by new fashion from Collins Place. Twelve stunning models paraded SS17 fashion, starting with Sports Luxe, then daywear and a finale of the latest race wear, all from Collins Place retailers and milliner Felicity Northeast.
The girls wore ponytails embellished by elaborate braids and finished with Carla Lawson Hair Extensions, producing consistently beautiful ponytails. Make up was directed by three-time AHFA Make Up Artist of the Year finalist, rokk ebony’s own Sarah Baxter.
The guys’ hair centred on the finish and texture of traditional suave and sophisticated looks that make any man handsome. Guests received red carpet treatment at the rokk ebony and Rokk Man Barber pop up hair stations too. Kevin.Murphy generously supplied hair care products for the night.
The setting was spectacular. The Paris end of Collins Street was aglow with light balloons, flowers and a much welcomed pop up champagne bar. The gourmet canapes, made by Collins Place food retailers, were an added treat making guests feel at right at home. As word of the champagne bar and way cool DJ Gus Franklin travelled and the sun went down, a capacity audience gathered. Even chaps from The Melbourne Club were seen peering at the spectacle through the windows opposite. Compere Jess Dempsey of blog “What Karl Would Do” and stylist Anika Walker launched the runway with tips for Spring Summer 17. The very glamorous ‘zinger’ moment of the night was when MSFW Ambassador and actress, Isabel Lucas and her entourage joined in the celebrations.
